Energy Facility Track Expansion Project

Southern Region of the U.S.

As the Prime contractor, Queen City provided project and construction management services for the expansion of an existing track facility for an energy facility. Queen City constructed more than 17,900 ft of continuous welded rail, removed and re-installed 2 No. 10 turnouts and constructed 10 No. 10 new timber and steel turnouts. As part of this undertaking, Queen City updated and constructed new track and yard crossings, as well as grade crossing signals and mainline switch work. Additionally, Queen City successfully managed the apportionment of civil contractors working on extensive site and earthwork preparations for the project; which included clearing, storm drain installation, gabion basket wall construction, miscellaneous flatwork concrete, excavation, embankment construction, major rock blasting, and chain link fence installation adjacent to live track operations.

Queen City’s team performed work under live track operations, without any safety incidences throughout the entire duration of the project. The expansion of this facility resulted in increased storage yard capacity for the client; which will allow for future growth and operational efficiencies.
