Quarry Terminal Expansion Project

Southern Region of the U.S.

Queen City was the Prime contractor in the construction of a new unit train rail yard for a rock quarry terminal expansion project. Work included the construction of 21,500 ft of new track, 16 new turnouts, the removal of 1,600 ft of existing track and the relocation, re-alignment and surfacing of 1,500 ft of an existing lead track. Additionally, Queen City performed all site work; including excavation, drainage and sub-ballast services on the project.

Notably, all work was performed alongside an existing Class I mainline on an active natural stone mine with environmental sensitivities. Queen City’s management and coordination with the connecting Class I railroad allowed the existing industry operations to stay in service throughout the duration of the project.
